Job Role Summary
The Clinical Manager, RN has 24-hour accountability for personnel in operational areas including quality, and regulatory readiness, managing daily operations and productivity, and engages team members to achieve organizational goals. Works night shifts and/or weekend shifts predominantly.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health PRIDE values
• Knowledge of practice standards for all who deliver care and IN Nurse Practice Act
• Rounds for outcomes with patients, families, and staff
• Establishes and maintains collegial/effective working relationships with providers and team
• Participates in and supports the role of nursing shared governance councils at the unit and hospital level to achieve departmental and organizational goals and active member of PCLC
• Demonstrates effective problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Promotes a healthy work environment, presents themselves as an open leader, and actively seeks to solve staff and patient care issues as evidenced by low turnover and high participation in engagement surveys
• Participates in Eskenazi Health committees, workgroups, and projects
• Demonstrates understanding of customer service concepts and objectively investigates service/care complaints to provide appropriate follow up in collaboration with The Office of Patient Experience
• Reviews and shares patient experience data and feedback with staff
• Can perform as a Staff Nurse II/Shift Coordinator/Charge Nurse to support the staff and provide patient care when needed
• Continuously reviews performance improvement initiatives at the unit(s) level with interprofessional teams
• Participates in identifying departmental goals/metrics and monitors dashboards
• Understands, promotes, and complies with regulatory standards
• Participates in financial stewardship for unit
• Monitors and adjusts staffing patterns to meet unit productivity
• Effectively utilizes staffing resources to provide quality patient care while maintaining a safe work environment
• Completes payroll
• Recognizes and support successes, serving as a mentor for new clinical managers and nursing leadership students.
• Ensures staff attend/participate in appropriate and ongoing training for their unit/role
• Consistently shares and communicates unit and EH information to team members
• Meets with staff to discuss performance, accountability, and professional growth, while effectively coaching, mentoring, and providing corrective action in line with organizational goals and policies
• Works as nursing clinical manager on the night shift and/or weekends
Job Requirements
• Minimum of bachelor's degree in nursing
• Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse
• RN degree from a nationally accredited college or university
• Current BLS certification; other certifications may be required in specific units to practice
• 3 years clinical experience with demonstrated leadership skills
• Maintains professional development through a variety of activities such as national certification, ongoing education, conferences, mentorship's, teaching and participating in nursing organizations
• Meet the requirements of Staff Nurse II/Shift Coordinator/Charge nurse job description and can function as a Staff Nurse II

• Knowledge of current medical practice, nursing theory, disease management, legal aspects pertaining to departmental practice.
• Demonstrates effective problem solving, negotiation, decision-making and good listening skills.
• Exhibits strong interpersonal skills
• Proficient use of technology as it relates to your department
• Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served.
• Ability to use age-appropriate communication and cognitive skills detailed in the department/area/unit job specific/age specific competencies.
