Post Doctoral Associate
Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24008702)

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral associate position in Professor Michele V. Manuel’s group at the University of Pittsburgh. The position will be in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. The department is a highly collaborative environment and Professor Manuel’s group studies a range of materials from lightweight alloys, shape memory alloys, bioresorbable metals, to radiation effects on materials using alloy design techniques. Highly motivated individuals are sought in the development of advanced alloys.

The candidate must have obtained their Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a similar field prior to beginning employment. Research experience in thermodynamic and kinetic database development and assessment is preferred. It is expected that the postdoctoral fellow will be highly motivated and can work independently, as well as part of a highly diverse research group. The candidate should have a solid publication history and effective verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, the postdoctoral associate is expected to give conference talks, prepare manuscripts and reports, participate in meetings, and play a major role in the preparation of grants. They are also expected to assist in managing and supervising both graduate and undergraduate students. The anticipated start date is January 2025.
