Position Overview:
Siemens Gamesa (SGRE) Construction Site Resources (CSR) manage multiple disciplines of technicians who construct offshore wind farms globally. The technicians are based in the US and work either on or offshore on a rotational basis. The role of the Construction Operations Manager is to remotely lead, mentor and manage the technicians from the back office. Regular travel is required to visit the technicians on global project locations, meet with the technicians in person and to attend annual manager conferences. The following highlights some of the duties that are carried out as part of this varied role.

Support the business to construct offshore wind farm projects to schedule while:
Embracing SGRE company values along with world class environment, health, and safety (EHS) standards and ethics.
Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Managing working relationships across geographical and cultural boundaries.
Management of overseas deployment delegation process.
Maintaining a high utilization level of the technician team by proactive and effective communication with the resource planning teams.
Accurate inputting of data for technician deployment in project planning tools.
Punctual delivery of inducted and trained technicians equipped with all necessary documentation, certification, training and PPE in line with project deployment dates.
Devising and implementing new ways of working that drive efficiency and performance.
Working with other departments (e.g., LEAN) to ensure that all site activities are mapped out including timelines to then document this and provide information to other departments to ensure manning standards are up to date and correct.
Support the offshore construction technicians by:
Ensuring all technicians have a clear development plan to progress within SGRE whilst assisting project requirements.
Management of 360-degree technician feedback process from the projects.
Management of leave applications ensuring consistency of approach along with accurate recording in project plans, thereby always maintaining anticipated resource availability.
Taking ownership for developing and implementing processes including working policies, technicians travel arrangement and management of technician wellbeing.
Performing full HR duties from salary adjustment to disciplining of employees and the leavers process for technicians departing the team.
Reviewing and approving of operational expenses and timesheets for technicians.
Other tasks include by are not limited to:
Recruitment of new technicians, apprentices, and operations managers. This is a start to finish process from screening CVs, to holding interviews and assessment days, and performing onboarding sessions.
Assisting other US departments with grievances that are raised.
Sustaining and developing relationships with technician unions.
Ensuring all PPE and workwear is up to date with the correct safety standards before being issued to the technicians ordering website.
Pursuing cost saving initiatives including reducing travel costs and research into market awareness.
Required Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience
A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to drive the change.
5-10 years of vocational experience OR 3+ years and a bachelor's degree. You are ready to collaborate internationally and work with teams across multiple global locations.
You are likely to have 25-40 travel days a year.
This role requires proven experience within operations management preferably in a large and complex environment.
Experience in managing large teams remotely whilst building working relationships and managing mental health and welfare of employees.
A background in a technical or engineering-related discipline with relevant qualifications would be a distinct advantage
You will be adept at building and managing customer relationships along with being commercially astute.
The ideal candidate will understand how to interpret financial performance within their own area and the impact their decisions could have on operational metrics.
You will be an instinctive problem solver that positively guides by example.
