SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance and further development of LabWare LIMS to support the needs of the Laboratory Services Network and Tyson Foods and work with a team of professionals to accomplish goals. Also responsible for performing one procedure or work instruction to a number of analytical or quality system procedures or work instructions in a Food Safety Laboratory. Precision and accuracy in performance of the work instructions and data collection is essential and must be support by programming skills and validation. Duties include: plan, perform work, schedule for LIMS maintenance and implement special projects; assist in the planning development method modification validation and evaluation of new or existing testing applications, test results, and supporting LIMS processes; assist in statistical analysis of lab data; troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance and work with IT to repair LIMS infrastructure issues; maintain ISO records for process control. This position will be expected to cross-train on applicable departmental work instructions and be capable of substituting for absent team members in specific areas. This position must comply with quality system and safety requirements; assist in training new employees; perform managerial duties of five critical tasks that are necessary to laboratory function generally considered to be managerial tasks as assigned by management. Additional requirements include: Creating reports and tools for managing sample workflow and standardization, monitoring sample turnaround, fulfilling customer requests, and reporting results; other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:


Education: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; prefer college level course or degree in Computer Sciences related degree fields. Degrees in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, and or Physical Sciences are acceptable with significant IT experience. Minimum of four years of laboratory experience .


Computer Skills: Extensive knowledge of LABWARE LIMS database and application and advanced programing skills using LIMS Basic and SQL languages. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent.


Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be capable of writing instructional documents and document LIMS processes.


Special Skills: Ability to perform complex work instructions and interface data with sophisticated equipment without close supervision; able to work independently and resolve non-routine problems; demonstrate proficiency in converting Chemistry or Microbiology work instructions into LIMS analyses, batches, processes and supporting LIMS tools. Team members will need to demonstrate proficiency using the LIMS system by successfully utilizing log-in batch action and result entry screens and by tracking a sample from reported result backward to supply receipt and will be required to demonstrate proficiency and growth after training.


Training Programs: The training needs for this job classification have been assessed by the appropriate management team member and are listed in the LIMS Training Manager. Training areas include Quality, LIMS, Chemistry and Microbiology. Supervisory: No other management duties are associated with this job classification.
