ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Neurology Department of the University of South Florida is the academic clinical neurosciences center for the greater Tampa Bay area. Currently the 4th fastest growing metropolitan region nationally, in southwest Florida, comprising of over 4 million people. Florida leads the United States in job creation with Tampa/Hillsborough County at the forefront. Our over 50-member faculty encompasses all major neurological subspecialties with particular repute in the areas of epilepsy, movement disorders, Parkinson's, neurotoxicology, cerebrovascular disease, neurocritical care and cognitive neurology. We provide multispecialty care for neurological patients in 5 tertiary care centers with accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) as a comprehensive stroke center as well as epilepsy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position directs administrative and operational activities for the department of neurology and its divisions across all missions including clinical care, research and education. The responsibilities of this position include administrative management of general operations, financial management, budget development, fiscal and administrative compliance, supervision of staff, and a key liaison for clinic operations. Serves as a strategic partner to the Chair, Vice Chairs, Department Administrator, and other senior leadership and staff in the planning and implementation of policies, programs, and initiatives that support the primary mission areas of the department. The position reports to the Department Chair and Administrator. The position is directly responsible for ensuring that administrative and operational activities comply with all departmental, university, clinical practice policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the training and development of all direct reports and providing guidance/direction to other division level staff resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the administrator and chair in strategic planning processes by developing annual and long-term goals that align with the mission of the Department, implements the strategies and action plans of each Division, advises on actions to achieve success, and monitors progress. Participates in other key department projects.
Serve as the liaison with revenue cycle operations, clinic management and operations, research administration, finance, HR team and others. Serve as liaison to hospital and USF administrators and leadership.
Initiates special projects based on needs assessment. Completes special projects and ad hoc requests for the Chair and Department Administrator. Runs reports from the scheduling system and tracks and maintains clinical obligations of faculty throughout the year.
In concert with the Chair and Department Fiscal Manager, assist on fiscal matters, including budget development, budget monitoring and financial reporting, purchasing decisions and processes, foundation support, clinic productivity, and revenue cycle operation activities at the divisional level. Assist with preparing budget for assigned divisions and monitor compliance of each cost center within the approved budget.
Serves as a strategic partner to the Chair, Vice Chairs, Department Administrator, and other senior leadership and staff in the planning and implementation of policies, programs, and initiatives that support the primary mission areas of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience.
SB1310 equivalency: Four years of direct experience for a Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Two years of supervisory. Knowledge of USF Policies and Procedures. Clinical administrative experience.
