General Summary:



Under general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, collects current medication history from emergency department patients using at least two sources. In addition, performs clerical and technical tasks in the preparation, delivery, procurement and dispensing of pharmaceuticals within the hospital setting in support of the central pharmacy. Interacts with other healthcare providers and patient populations ranging from the neonate to elderly.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Education & Training: High School diploma or equivalent required. Valid Registration as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.

  • Work Orientation & Experience: Three (3) years' prior pharmacy technician experience with extensive knowledge of medication names and indications is preferred.

  • Skills & Abilities: strong interpersonal skills; ability to recognize errors on a home medication list such as: inappropriate dose or tablet size that is not commercially available; strong written and oral communications skills; working knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terms, drug names, abbreviations, and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, administering, and charting of medications in the institution; demonstrates working knowledge of drug dosages, routes of administration, and mechanical or automated delivery systems.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $26.6-$30.26
