Summary:
Provides administration and program support to the initiatives under management of the Utilities - Energy Services team. The Program support specialist will provide day to day operational and administrative support with the development, implementation and evaluation of efficiency programs and technical support for meeting the efficiency, conservation and renewable energy objectives of the Energy Services team. Work hours are flexible based on school schedule, with typical work hours being 24-30 hours per week if available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
Support the program administration of various efficiency, renewables and demand response programs, in conjunction with the Energy Services team.
Review and provide support for the intake process of new residential solar and energy storage applications.
Direct contact with end use customers and contractors via telephone, email and face-to-face meetings regarding efficiency and conservation options and resources.
Complete data entry of project information into software tracking platform.
Troubleshoot missing application information directly with customers and contractor.
Assist and facilitate various field inspection data collected.
Collaborate with team to create reports, program updates and various data management tasks.
Review and analyze residential energy use information.
Conduct research on other existing similar programs to aid in development of new programs and improvement of existing programs.
Staff special events to inform public about Utilities programs.
Miscellaneous data entry projects from initiation to close out.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Beginner to intermediate word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Knowledge of energy efficiency and conservation preferred. Ability to conduct research using reports, journals, and other sources of information.

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field or associate's degree in energy management and one to three years experience in related field. If education and experience requirements are not met, please describe how your experience would result in you being successful in the role.
Preferred Education: Enrolled in a Master's degree program in Business, Real Estate, Public Administration, Political Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field and have a strong interest in solving climate change with energy efficiency, policy implementation, stakeholder outreach, and program and data management.
The ideal applicant will:
Have strong customer service skills for doing outreach to building owners and managers.
Have strong writing skills to help draft emails and materials for outreach.
Have strong Microsoft Excel data management and analytical skills.
Be detail-oriented and able to work independently.
Be interested in the opportunity to build a strong professional network with the commercial and multifamily real estate sector of building owners, manager, tenants, and brokers as well as with energy efficiency service providers.
Consider working in an intern role beyond summer of 2023.
Coursework in one of the following would be beneficial, but is not required: real estate, building HVAC, lighting or control systems, public policy implementation, or energy efficiency
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, understanding operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
