Who you are
As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in performing duties to disassemble, inspect, repair, assemble, perform welding and test Welded Heat Exchanger products to bring them up to specification standards. You will have the opportunity to support both our Service Center and Field Service teams, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is on-site position based in Houston, Texas.
As a part of the team, you will:
Support the development of Repair Procedures for Service Center and In Site Field Service Projects
Lead, develop and instruct junior technicians
Set-up and operate manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment as required for TIG, MIG, arc, air arc, plasma transferred welding and fusing operations
Adhere to welding trade practices to layout, fit, level, align and weld parts. Selects proper welding tips, rods, wire and amperage
Assist in shipping, receiving, counting, labeling and distribution of Alfa Laval parts/customer equipment
Assist in performing equipment receipt, uncrate, clean and strip units
Assist in opening, complete disassembly, prepping, reassembly and testing customer equipment as needed
Utilize pneumatic, power, hydraulic and hand tools to complete tasks
Assist in cleaning hardware, chasing threads, and installing hardware as needed
Dye penetration inspection process - Hand clean areas to be inspected, clean dye areas, rinse remaining dye from plates, liners and nozzles, to be certified in DPT Level 2.
Move material as needed via forklifts, overhead cranes, mobile tables, hand trucks, etc.
Recognize and communicate the need for replenishment of supplies
Keep work area and surrounding equipment clean and organized. Perform housekeeping as required at the facility to maintain a professional presentation - 5S
Participate in On-The-Job training for self as directed on reconditioning processes
Develop knowledge and understanding of Alfa Laval approved SOP's and WI's
Active and positive participant in ALPS meetings and improvement initiatives
Perform work in other areas as needed to level workload
What you know:
You have a High School degree or Equivalent with relevant experience, and:
Experience working at a Welded Heat Exchanger Manufacturing Facility
Experience in complex weld repairs in Compabloc & Spiral units.
Be qualified in the repair and welding techniques for exotic metals such as SMO, Titanium, Hastelloy etc.
Willingness and availability for occasional national and international travelling as a Flex Welder
Must work independently to evaluate and repair products.
Must work unsupervised performing job responsibilities as trained and instructed.
Cooperate with Team Leader (or designee) and work effectively in a strong team environment; continually seeking ways to improve repair process and techniques.
Must be able to interact in a professional manner with administrative staff and co-workers.
