Lead Mechanical Engineer

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, Tissue VS Mill Sustaining Capital - you'll provide mechanical engineering to the NA Tissue Value Stream Capital Engineering Organization. You'll also provide capital project leadership and support in the development, layout, design, installation, and start-up of equipment and ancillary systems to address capacity, capability, innovation, safety, and obsolescence needs for the NA Tissue Value Stream.
Additionally, you will be expected to collaborate across the Supply Chain, R&E, Procurement, tissue mill sites, key OEM equipment suppliers, technical service providers, and construction contractor networks.
In this role you will:
Lead single or multiple product or process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to $10 million from conception through commercialization.
Provide technical and functional guidance in the design, development, and optimization of equipment.
Conceive, develop, validate, and share ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or scientific knowledge aligned with business unit objectives.
Drive the development and execution of FC capital projects using KCNA Project Management Practices (PMP) process as assigned.
Effectively collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers and external service providers. Partner with mill asset teams keeping a customer focused mindset.
Lead, coach, and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute capital projects to improve the NA Tissue Value Stream business results.
Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets. This includes completing required project documentation through EFS, EDR, and Appropriation activities and following PMP documentation including Corporate Financial Instructions (CFIs).

In your Senior Automation Engineer role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll work with the Family Care Technology Development Team with focus on CTEC TM assets and work toward becoming a subject matter expert in this technology and mentor/coach other technical resources. You'll initially support initiatives to optimize ICON operation as well as supporting an innovative solution to move beyond ICON, while also advancing knowledge on the Extended Nip Press for CTEC TMs. You'll also collaborate broadly inside the corporation with R&E, Supply Chain, pilot plant, mill and multifunctional team members, and outside the corporation with vendors. The incumbent will report to the Family Care Technology Development Owner & Team Leader.
In this role you will:
Provide leadership by example in safety, ethics, quality, regulatory, sustainability, inclusion and diversity while managing self in accordance with expected KC competencies.
Coach and mentor team members to increase technical understanding and ability to execute programs to improve business results.
Effectively work individually and collaboratively with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, mill operations, procurement, equipment suppliers and external service providers to ideate and develop advancements in products, brands and mill processes.
Translate stated needs, brand promises and consumer feedback into tangible and innovative product attributes and the process necessary to produce them.
Forecast business needs 2 to 5+ years out beyond project team needs to drive long term competitive advantage
Maintain technical and scientific expertise in an area of technology and communicate impact of developments on Kimberly-Clark.
Drive the development and execution of innovation-based projects focused on long term competitive advantage.

Required:
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's from an accredited college or university.
Requires at least 3+ years of experience in technical or operational assignments in a manufacturing environment.
Travel is required for this role. Typical level of travel is 20-30%, heavier travel may be required at times during project installations depending on duration or complexity of project
Specific, technical knowledge and expertise in rolled and folded tissue and/or towel manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with machine startups.
Experience working with external technical service providers.
The ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments.
