Job Responsibilities: Under the direction of Newsprint management & supervisor-the Forklift Operator is assigned to perform production support-related tasks that may include, but are not limited to: Forklift truck set-up, inspection & maintenance; loading, unloading, newsprint paper rolls, supplies and other materials; assisting with recycling; pallet organization; shipping & receiving; newsprint dock oversight; distribution dock support; and general dept. housekeeping.
Set up print rolls for the Press Department.
Ability to utilize a clamp truck or willingness to learn. Offload rolls of paper from semi-trailers. Keep accurate records for rolls of paper that are unloaded.
Offload product from delivery to the correct storage location.
Input material into computer system
Comply with safety policies and practices
Perform shipping/receiving functions as directed
Perform daily cleanup of storage areas
Clean production areas as directed
Perform the duties associated with trash and recycling handling
Requirements:
This position requires a high school education or equivalent, although production experience of any kind may be helpful along with computer familiarity. Candidates should have the ability to adapt to change, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, remain flexible and interact with people while demonstrating patience.
You must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be able to push/pull up to 2000 pounds with assistance. A Forklift operator spends most working hours on his/her feet.
