Job Summary: We are seeking a Cold Heading Engineer responsible for tooling, gaging, machine repair parts, and all other aspects of the Cold Heading process.
Primary Job Functions:
Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine methodologies, techniques, principles, and related costs for quoting purposes.
Prepare orders from sales for manufacture. Plan manufacturing processes or sequences of operations to produce the given part. Decide on machines and methods for manufacture. Draw necessary prints to facilitate manufacture throughout the process.
Devise a layout and tooling book for each die and punch used in the manufacturing process. Make all tooling prints using Cadkey 19 software.
Supervise the Tooling Coordinator to ensure proper quantities are in stock for tooling and machine repair parts.
Coordinate efforts of co-workers and outside vendors to procure necessary tooling.
Apply "SPC" and other Quality Control measures as required.
Troubleshoot problems on the shop floor regarding tooling, fixtures, gaging, and other manufacturing-related issues.
Purchase machine repair parts as required.
Keep drawings up to date and orderly.
Work with the Quality Control Department in assigning and designing gages and gaging procedures.
Stay informed of new techniques and products within the heading industry.
Respond to all heading-related problems.
Act in the company's best interest at all times.
Participate in relevant continuing education programs as identified or proposed by executive management.
Comply with all company policies, instructions, and directions to fulfill company objectives.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma
Preferred: 2-year Associate Degree in engineering
Previous experience or on-the-job training
Communication Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents
Ability to write reports
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
Ability to work with ratios, percentages, fractions, and proportions
Ability to use and read measuring devices, such as calipers and micrometers
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to define and solve problems
Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions based on those facts
Ability to make decisions

Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks
