Title: Maintenance Manager
Reports To: Director of Operations
Shift: Day Shift (Responsible for Overseeing All 3 Shifts)
Job Overview:
This role involves overseeing the supervision, training, and technical support for all maintenance supervisors. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for creating and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, diagnosing equipment failures, and reducing downtime through direct action or by coordinating with subordinate staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the supervisory teams responsible for maintaining production, packaging, receiving, and shipping equipment, as well as the facilities maintenance team, which handles groundskeeping, building repairs, and utility maintenance.
- Oversee planning and scheduling activities, ensuring that all tasks are effectively organized.
- Manage the procurement of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance operations.
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure it meets established standards, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ensure that maintenance schedules and repair estimates align with project timelines.
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Develop and adjust work procedures to meet repair and maintenance schedules effectively.
- Supervise the planning and installation of new equipment.
- Compile and maintain critical departmental metrics, such as minimizing maintenance downtime, managing inventory levels, maintaining safety records, and tracking work order efficiency and labor.
- Ensure compliance with work schedules and maintain accurate records.
- Create and enhance a proactive maintenance program, including work order management and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure USDA compliance by scheduling and maintaining PIP (Performance Improvement Plans) work.
- Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance and safety inspections.
- Manage and administer budgets, ensuring they align with company goals and objectives.
- Establish and implement Personnel Management Agreements for supervisory staff and team members.
- Develop and implement a skills assessment program tailored to individual team members' strengths.
- Propose and implement changes in work conditions and equipment usage to improve efficiency.
- Lead and maintain a root cause analysis program aimed at addressing equipment failures.
- Ensure that equipment repair records are accurately maintained within the MP2 system.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in food manufacturing; an Engineering degree is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, electronics, PLCs, refrigeration, boilers, and facility maintenance.
- Proven leadership skills with a history of successfully leading maintenance teams.
- Availability to work across multiple shifts and on weekends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience managing maintenance across multiple locations.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Experience working in a food processing environment, with FDA/USDA regulations.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
