Job Description
SGS Alaska Division has been the leading full-service environmental laboratory in Alaska for over 50 years. We understand the importance of employing qualified, enthusiastic, resourceful people. Our Alaska operation supports a 60-person staff. SGS Anchorage is a full service, ISO accredited laboratory analyzing a variety of matrices for environmental pollutants. Our clients are those that report to government regulatory agencies and private individuals.
We have a position for a full-time, permanent Sample Login Technician to support our sample receiving and administrative needs. The Sample Login Technician Technician receives samples, prepares bottle kits for clients, delivers samples to the labs, disposes of expired samples, and works in shipping and receiving. The Sample Login Technician is responsible for following all health and safety procedures and promoting a safe working environment throughout the department and the laboratory. This position will be heavily involved with answering calls from clients and helping with other administrative responsibilities around the lab.
Job Functions:
Receives/unpacks sample coolers and containers and documents the receipt in an efficient and timely manner
Verifies and records sample receipt temperatures
Performs preservation checks on aqueous samples within various containers (i.e. 250ml, 500ml, 1000ml, etc.), not applicable to solvents, liquids, or malodorous samples
Creates jobs, enters bottle records, and generates bottle labels using LIMS in accordance with chain of custody (COC)
Applies sample labels to sample containers
Transfers samples between sample reception, cold or ambient storage areas, and laboratory departments
Ships sample coolers and packages
Prepares client bottle kits
Maintains all required documentation with accuracy and clarity
Removes historical samples from completed jobs and assigns samples for disposal; disposes of expired samples
Communicates sample information to Client Services team and lab operations to ensure timely
Adheres to lab and sample management SOPs to ensure that proper sampling handling procedures are followed
Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

You have a high school diploma or GED. An Associate's degree is strongly preferred for this role.
You have exceptional organizational skills and can perform filing and record keeping tasks.
You are able to keep an office supply inventory and order new materials as needed.
You have a strong customer service background and will go the extra mile for our clients and visitors to make sure their needs are fully addressed.
You have some scheduling/meeting experience and can handle multiple calendaring responsibilities for different employees.
You have proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
