The Paramedic assists patient care services and medical staff of the Emergency Department in providing quality patient care and performing assigned duties under a registered nurse's direction.

Qualifications:
Current OH Paramedic License
1+ years of paramedic experience
BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications within department specified period
Completes any additional education, certifications, or trainings as assigned

Under the direction of the RN, assists with triage and procedures, and performs delegated patient care, including but not limited to insertion of IVs, insertion of IVs with Prevue, insertion of IOs,12 lead EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, vital signs, crutch walking, splinting, wound irrigation, suture set up, and application of dressing.
Effectively communicates with patients and families. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological or physical limitations, or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
Ensures a safe patient care environment. Performs treatments, administers medication, and operates equipment safely. Utilizes ENA standards as a guide to provide safe patient care.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Adheres to hospital policies and emergency operations plans.
Communicates effectively with other departments and conveys pertinent patient information.
Engages in professional growth and serves as a role model to the Heathcare team.
