Rehab Aide for acute care, outpatient and cardiac rehab areas.
PATIENT RELATED DUTIES
Assists Therapists and Assistants as requested for patient treatment and preparation.
Performs requested tasks within a time frame agreed upon with the requester.
Initiates assistance to other staff and patients, without being asked.
TRANSPORTATION DUTIES
Transports patients to pick up area. May set up patient transportation with Transport Services when required.
Notifies appropriate staff if patient is unable to attend therapy/late arrivals.
Lifts or assists staff with patient transfers as required.
Utilizes proper body posture and sound body mechanics principles of movement in transporting, lifting, transferring patients and in the care of equipment.
Ensures safety and welfare of all patients and fellow employees when performing transportation responsibilities.
EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains appropriate inventory of all equipment in all designated areas.
Cleans equipment and reports broken or unsafe equipment to mangers (treatment tables, hydrotherapy equipment, paraffin, hydrocollator, departmental wheelchairs and walk aids).
Moves gurneys, heavy equipment, linen and supplies as needed.
Maintains linen supply for departments.
Acute: Maintains hydrotherapy room and supplies.
Acute: Fills hydrotherapy equipment with water and appropriate germicide as scheduled. Cleans hydrotherapy equipment after patient use.
Acute: Maintains inventory of department supplies.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clerical Duties: Photocopies material in photocopy box, performs other miscellaneous duties. Assembles therapy charts; schedule board tags; fax; phones, computer-computer charges input.
Performs regular mail runs.
COMMUNICATION:
Written and verbal communications are tailored to meet age/educational levels of patients, families and other customers and are delivered and received in a timely, clear and appropriate manner so that customers have information to meet their needs.
Consistently establishes and nurtures effective, assertive and open communication.
Demonstrates good listening skills and participates with others to resolve problems or improve patient care coordination.
Keeps program manager/clinical coordinator promptly apprised of urgent as well as routine operational issues.
Seeks supervisory assistance as needed in unusual circumstances.
Maintains patient and co-worker confidentiality.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
Prior hospital Physical Therapy Aide experience preferred.
Special Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work well with others with tact and diplomacy, as there is much interdepartmental and departmental exchange of information. Excellent communication skills are required to relate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and patients, including good verbal, written and listening skills. Good organizational skills are essential. Basic clerical skills. Basic familiarity with computers preferred.
