Job Profile Summary

The Pre-Sales Network Engineer architects and designs wireless and fiber network solutions and develops high level cost models for proposed, early-stage projects. This position reports into the Engineering function and is the primary technical resource and liaison between engineering and Sales & Marketing. The Pre-Sales Network Engineer is responsible for working closely with the sales and marketing teams to support sales activities in alignment with network strategy, and actively drive and manage the network technology evaluation stage of the sales process to a successful conclusion. Working with Sales and other internal organizations, the Sales Engineer acts as the key technical advisor and advocate for Commnet products and services. The Pre-Sales Engineer must be able to articulate network design requirements necessary to support and deliver the requested products or services. They must establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales and network design cycle. Working in conjunction with internal business partners, the Pre-Sales Engineer will conduct needs assessments and develop and/or design a network solution to meet the customer’s requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to)

  • Support and provide quality technical consultation and develop cost effective, resilient, innovative, and reliable network solutions.
  • Provide high-level network design and ensure that solutions proposed meet customers’ needs.
  • Ability to evaluate and articulate network pricing components associated with an engineered network solution.
  • Conduct kickoff meetings to begin opportunity project.
  • Establish and manage diverse workgroups with competing interests to a single project schedule with associated critical milestones.
  • Ability to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs and other customer inquiries.
  • Ability to leverage and incorporate additional opportunities as part of a specific network design.
  • Ensure timely delivery of final proposal documents.
  • Other reasonable and normal duties associated with network design or analysis as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Years Experience 1 - 2 Yrs
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Proficient in planning and proposing costing models and SLAs for managed service proposals.
  • Professional-level writing, editing, and word processing skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks on a day-by-day basis.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interface professionally with diverse workgroups and individuals.
  • Ability to work a flex schedule if needed to meet project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer 1-3 years in the cellular mobile or fixed wireless network engineering space; specific experience with fiber design preferred.
  • Prefer 1-3 years of experience using Microsoft Product suite, CRM (Zoho or Salesforce).
