IREX is hiring a Program Associate within the Leadership Practice to provide support to the Community Engagement Exchange and Community Solutions Programs, professional fellowships and leadership development programs funded by the U.S. Department of State. Participants from 100 eligible countries complete a three- or four-month practicum and leadership development course in the United States before returning home to implement community development projects. The Program Associate will support all aspects of the program lifecycle with a particular focus on curriculum and event design and delivery activities and fellow advising.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years of work experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to international education or professional development programming
  • Experience teaching, facilitating trainings, tutoring, serving as a teaching assistant, or fulfilling any other instructional role including lesson planning and delivery
  • Experience coordinating events with 100 or more attendees, including preparing event materials such as agendas and session handouts and/or managing event logistics such as transportation arrangements, check-in processes, and on-site troubleshooting
  • Experience advising or providing formal support to international students, scholars, or fellows
  • Experience using Canvas, Outlook, Salesforce, and/or Formstack
  • Experience studying, working, or volunteering internationally or with an international organization in the United States
  • Familiarity with the culture and language of one or more countries eligible for the Community Engagement Exchange or Community Solutions Programs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and networking ability
  • High level of intercultural competence
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills, including basic proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

Your Daily Tasks

  • Support the design and delivery of leadership development courses, including lesson planning, managing course content on the Canvas learning management system, and ensuring all course materials are fully accessible for participants with disabilities
  • Support the design and delivery of large-scale events such as orientations and re-entry workshops, including preparing event materials and coordinating event logistics
  • Support fellows during their pre-departure, practicum, and post-practicum periods
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records in Salesforce and other platforms.
  • Assist with financial tracking, procurement, payment processing, and credit card reconciliation
  • Manage program email inboxes
  • Advise fellows, keep notes of all substantial communications, and resolve or escalate any challenges in a timely manner
  • Represent the program to external partners during phone calls, in-person engagements, and virtual meetings and events
  • Serve as an active connector for the programs’ network of participants, alumni, hosts, and volunteers
  • Write sections of internal/external reports, presentations, and other products
  • Advise fellows, keep notes of all substantial communications, and resolve or escalate any challenges in a timely manner
  • Represent the program to external partners during phone calls, in-person engagements, and virtual meetings and events
  • Serve as an active connector for the programs’ network of participants, alumni, hosts, and volunteers
  • Write sections of internal/external reports, presentations, and other products
  • Engage and build relationships with partners and vendors
  • Contribute to proposal components as requested 
  • With the supervision of project leadership and in compliance with U.S. government regulations and IREX policy, accurately perform financial administration tasks (credit card reconciliation, participant and partner reimbursements, stipend disbursements, procurement of goods and services, etc.)
  • Collaborate with team members and offer support
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture
  • Actively participate in IREX and Leadership Practice events, volunteering occasionally to participate on committees
  • Other support duties as needed.

This position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately $43,200 - $52,000
