The Team Lead will oversee a portfolio of Social Responsiveness projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, stakeholder engagement, and quality reporting to the Board of Directors (BoD). This role manages all Board relations, acting as the primary liaison, facilitating BoD meetings, and reporting to the CEO Office Chief of Staff. The Team Lead drives a 5-year Social Responsiveness strategy, organizes tribal events, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align projects with strategic objectives and cultural values.
To lead and implement the organization’s Social Responsiveness initiatives within the Impact Model, optimizing stakeholder engagement, managing Board of Directors relations, and ensuring effective project lifecycle management and outcomes.
• Strategic Oversight
o Develop and execute a 5-year strategy for Social Responsiveness in collaboration with the CEO Team, ensuring alignment with the organization's Strategic Plan.
o Manage the lifecycle of Social Responsiveness projects within the Impact Model framework, driving continuous improvement through data analysis and lessons learned.
o Create and manage feedback loops from stakeholders and the community to refine Social Responsiveness strategy and ensure it meets evolving needs.
• Board of Directors Relations
o Act as the primary liaison for all Board of Directors (BoD) interactions, ensuring smooth and effective communication.
o Plan, coordinate, and facilitate all BoD meetings, managing logistics, agendas, and follow-ups to ensure effective engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
o Prepare and ensure the quality and professionalism of all BoD reports, presentations, and documentation, including quarterly data analysis and project updates.
o Report directly to the CEO Office Chief of Staff, providing regular updates on Board relations and Social Responsiveness initiatives.
• Event Planning & Execution
o Assist in the negotiation, planning, coordination, and execution of tribal events, including but not limited to: the Navajo Nation Fair, Navajo Agency Fairs, Navajo Nation Economic Summit, Reservation Economic Summit, and AISES National Conference.
o Develop culturally resonant event strategies, managing logistics, budgeting, vendor relations, and enhancing attendee experiences.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
o Collaborate with internal departments and cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives align with the organization's strategic goals.
o Gather and analyze data on Social Responsiveness activities and present quarterly reports for All Hands meetings, Board presentations, shareholder updates, and Navajo Nation communications.
o Engage with the Marketing Director to develop comprehensive online and community-facing coverage for Social Responsiveness events.
• Philanthropy & Community Initiatives
o Oversee the Philanthropy Committee’s initiatives, fostering employee and stakeholder engagement in community-oriented programs.
o Create mechanisms for philanthropic engagement, ensuring initiatives align with community needs and organizational values.
• Additional Duties
o Support Board of Directors administrative functions, ensuring adherence to governance protocols and high-quality reporting standards.
o Ensure culturally appropriate engagement aligning with Navajo cultural standards and values.
o Other duties as assigned.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
Experience
• Minimum: 5 years of project management experience, ideally within Native American communities or in roles involving tribal engagement.
• Preferred: 8-10 years of progressive project management experience with a focus on Social Responsiveness and/or community relations; at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Demonstrated understanding of Navajo culture, traditions, and community priorities.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and software.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and reporting results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in presenting to executive stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to pass a standard background check.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Advanced proficiency in project management software and reporting tools.
• Experience with strategic planning and implementing long-term community relations or corporate responsibility initiatives.
Work Environment and Conditions
• Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork at tribal events and community locations.
• High degree of collaboration required with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexible hours as necessary to meet stakeholder engagement requirements.
Travel Requirements
• Regular travel within Navajo Nation and to other tribal community locations for event coordination and engagement.
• Occasional travel for conferences, meetings, and community outreach programs.
