Provide strategic budget leadership, consultation, and guidance to offices and division.
Manage the day-to-day budget operations of the offices and division.
Interpret data to evaluate and determine past financial performance and or make financial projections for management who must make an overall business decision.
Produce financial reports for forecasting, trading and results analysis, and recommendation to management.
Assist with the preparation of special studies, reports, analyses, and recommendations.
Recommend budget, adjustments, and other cost improvement measures. Use appropriate cost rates, such as indirect and benefit rates for proposed budgets.
Review departmental/divisional budget transactions, reconcile discrepancies, and answer inquiries pertaining to the division’s budgets.
Conduct budget meetings with Deans, Chairs, and/or departmental budget managers within the division.
Provide budget training and workshops for all departments with the Division of Academic Affairs.
Responsible for maintaining position control for the division.
Manage all budget journals and/or revisions for departments within the division.
Manage Grant sponsored project funds, federal and private grants and contracts, as well as gift and discretionary accounts.
Use financial systems, structures, and controls for a variety of processes that provide tracking, validation, billing, payment, and debt reporting. Recommend quality control and process improvements with regard to overall business processes.
Apply a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
Coordinate annual budget request cycle in collaboration with all units of the division of Academic Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, business, or a related field required.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years relevant financial/accounting experience preferred, within higher education setting preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must be proficient in MS office suites and various software applications such as spreadsheets., relational databases, statistical packages to assemble, manipulate and format data.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports upon request.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative staff and other employees.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, budgeting, finance, government accounting, state government, and sound management practices.

Under the direction of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Coordinator for Academic Affairs Fiscal Services will support the overall mission of the Provost’s Office in all aspects of budget/personnel-related matters. The incumbent will be responsible for the timely, accurate, efficient production of expenditure evaluations, monitoring and approval for budget processes and financial procedures. The successful candidate will serve as principal budget interface and liaison between the Provost’s Office and the Colleges and Departments, as well as other areas of the University (especially budget and finance), and will work closely with the Department of Human Resources to ensure processes and compliance are adhered to for all employees. The work deliverables are done through applicable systems and automation strategies, which may include the creation of these systems.
