General Schedule


Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.



Position Overview


The coordinator is responsible for the execution of major campus programs and events, and training and development opportunities for student leaders. This position provides information and resources to student organizations regarding event management practices, safety, and compliance with university policies. The coordinator manages student activity funded budgets and requires the ability to exercise judgement and make decisions of significance while utilizing discretion. It is imperative this position actively engages in program development reflective of the Student Engagement Values and advises student leaders through the Central Six tenets of Transformative Learning. The coordinator reports to the Director of Student Engagement. This position has been identified by Federal Law as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities.



Job Duties



  • The coordinator develops, implements, manages, and evaluates a myriad of social, educational, cultural, and leadership programming.

  • Advises Homecoming, which entails advising an active and engaged student board and the 20+ events they program throughout Homecoming week. Homecoming hosts small to major events including a festival and the royalty coronation.

  • Advisement of an affinity student organization and the major campus events they program.

  • Advises BronchoThon, the University's year-round student lead philanthropic effort, through providing guiding student leaders in operational effectiveness, personal growth and development. This position serves as the sole liaison to Children's Hospital Foundation.

  • Advise and plan major campus events aligning with the Office of Student Engagement's mission and values.

  • Manages multiple student activity funded budgets - including preparing budget requests, reviewing expenditures, ensuring purchasing compliance, and execution of vendor contracts and payments.

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to support the programs and initiatives of the Office of Student Engagement and the Division of Enrollment and Student Success.

  • Will work some evenings and weekend activities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Required


Requires a bachelor's degree in related field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.


Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.



Qualifications/Experience Preferred


Master's degree in college student personnel or higher education in student affairs related fields. Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, task forces, or committees. Experience programming events, in or out of higher education. Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education, particularly those related to social, cultural, educational and leadership programming. Knowledge of CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education.



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Superior planning, implementation, and evaluation skills. Leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students in different areas and at different levels of the University. Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with care, judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
