Ultimate Staffing is recruiting for a Direct Hire Nurse Paralegal for a large law firm in New Orleans, LA! This is a great opportunity for RN's who are looking to get into the law field- qualified candidates will have a valid RN License and will have worked in OB/GYN, ICU or Emergency Room settings. Job Summary:



Provides technical assistance to attorneys engaged in matters which involve the review and interpretation of medical information.



Responsibilities:



  • Prepare medical exhibits for trial as needed.

  • Obtaining and review medical records.

  • Review medical and legal materials for information pertinent to matter at hand. Such reviews may involve the use of Westlaw, Lexis system and Medline systems.

  • Speak with physicians, hospital personnel, expert witnesses, clients, attorneys, etc. obtaining and giving information as required.

  • Interview witnesses in preparation for depositions, attend depositions as required and write depositions summaries.

  • Write reports as required.

  • Coordinate document production for major files. This generally involves document organization and the preparation of computerized document indices.

  • May draft interrogatories, answers to interrogatories, subpoenas and other pleadings under the direction of an attorney.

  • Prepare materials for Medical Review Panels and Physician's positions papers, and legal memorandum.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Research medical issues as needed.


Supervision Received and/or Given:



Employees in this job receive both oral and written instructions from the attorney(s) to whom they are assigned.. They do not customarily have supervisory responsibilities but, may supervise other support staff during certain phases of large projects.



Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:



  • RN with currently valid license.

  • Five years experience as an operating, OB-GYN, ICU or emergency room nurse or a similarly responsible position.

  • An LPN with significant desirable experience may be substituted for RN.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Excellent people skills
