Basic Job Functions:
Responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to the following:
Lead a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide designs, quotes, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, and other utility structures, primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories.
Interview and hire new teammates to build the team.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to teammates.
Ensure consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices.
Manage the team's priorities and set expectations.
Guide teammates to deliver quality work, on time, with consistent results.
Be active within Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement and overall success of the business.
Support sales team through customer interactions, promoting our value proposition and cultivating deeper partnerships.
Make decisions with other engineering department leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs.
Occasional travel is required to visit customers, support plants, exhibit at trade shows, and more.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior leadership experience
At least two years of utility structures industry experience, preferably pole, tower, or transmission line design
At least one year steel products design or leadership experience, preferably within Nucor
Prior success in a customer-facing work environment
Structural Engineer licensure in any state or Model Law Structural Engineer designation
Degree specifically with Structural emphasis
Master's degree in engineering or business
Willing to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor
