Provide computer assistance and guidance to agency personnel; handle help desk requests; conduct installation, maintenance and support for the file servers located in multiple locations; build and deploy workstations, laptops, monitors, printers, etc.; administer Agency cell accounts; administer the virtual and storage environment, provide support and maintenance for the Sheriff's Office Agency phone system, configure the system and voicemail; troubleshoot network and data emergencies; participate in an on-call rotation schedule; perform other duties as assigned. The Systems Engineer position has opportunities for overtime and compensatory time. Examples of Duties
Provide 24/7/365 support of Agency servers, computer and telephone systems; install, maintain and support file servers located at different geographic locations; check servers daily; perform backups nightly.
Configure and install new/existing equipment and peripherals including servers (virtual and physical), computers, laptops, monitors, scanners, digital cameras, printers, handheld devices, DVD/CD-RW/Blu-Ray drives, card readers, memory, hard drives, IP camera systems, access control applications, phones, etc.
Monitor, maintain and maximize uptime and availability of all Agency users, servers, computers and telephone systems.
Provide computer and telephone support and training via face to face, email or telephone communication to all Agency employees and Agency vendors, working various around the clock shifts.
Plan and implement future resources and requirements of agency storage, server, computer and telephone needs.
Maintain a variety of administrative records, track server configurations, installation of specialized software, phone system configurations etc.
Perform research and make recommendations for new and/or replacement equipment.
Track Agency cellular devices (new and replacements): phones, smart phones, tablets, modems.
Serve as Manager/Administrator for Agency Mail Servers including creation of new user accounts, update directory, create public folders, keep antivirus up to date, troubleshoot internal and external mail delivery.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of inventory, addition and removal or users, data center environment, applications, and task directions (Access, Active Directory).
Conduct domain administration of users by adding, deleting and changing permissions and folder access.
Participate in emergency response and off-hours maintenance/upgrades.
Administer virtual server environment (VMware, Azure) and backups.
Administer local and virtual storage environment and backup software.
Administer multiple data centers.
Administer multiple Agency applications (ePO, databases, etc.).
Keep informed on current information technology practices by attending workshops and educational programs or reading specialized literature.
Attend meetings and participate in various teams when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Associate's degree in computer science or related field OR related certification (CompTIA, Azure, Security Administration, etc.).
Experience with SQL and Oracle preferred.
Three (3) years of professional experience in information technology.
OR equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

Knowledge of virtual and physical data center environments, DNS, and database administration.

Must be 18 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen with 10 years of verifiable U.S. residency.
Must pass comprehensive background investigation and criminal record check; medical exam and drug/alcohol screening; polygraph exam.
Must have a valid driver's license with no more than three (3) points.
Must provide handwriting sample for review.
Must appear before and receive a favorable recommendation from an Oral Interview Board.

Employees hired on or after 7/1/2010 will have an automatic Retirement Health Savings account made available as the primary retiree healthcare benefit. This 105(h) Universal Reimbursement Account will only be able to be accessed upon separation of service and/or retirement whichever applicable.
