Basic Purpose
Acts as the lead position in identifying and addressing critical transmission issues and opportunities. Solicits and directs required resources to develop solutions which protect the Company’s interests and minimize near-term and long-term risk. Provides critical interface while managing internal and external developer expectations. Evaluates and optimizes the utilization of existing and proposed transmission assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Represents the Company on strategic and tactical initiatives through extensive involvement with key organizations (Western Electricity Coordinating Council - WECC, North American Electric Reliability Corporation –NERC, WestConnect etc.) to ensure that Company and Industry interests are in line. Brings business information to NV Energy from outside contacts developed in the industry. Assists in the internal coordination of company positions with the various organizations the Company participates in
• Leads in the negotiation of all required Transmission Agreements and contracts, including monitoring all stages of the process, as required, from creation of the contract through final signature. Coordinates the construction of projects under Agreement from the contract stage through the Commercial Operation Stage, assuring compliance with the Terms and Milestones of the Agreement. Negotiates the purchase of external transmission assets, as needed. Develops transmission asset deployment strategies including non-traditional ownership considerations
• Coordinates and assists with the renewable energy group. Manages the Designated Network Resource (DNR) process with marketers. Provides critical interface while managing internal and external developers and network transmission customers’ expectations
• Manages the Interconnection and Transmission Process in order to meet FERC and other agency/regulatory requirements. Assists the Company in compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) policies, FERC Notice of Inquiry (NOI), Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NOPR) and Standards of Conduct (SOC). Prepares and presents regulatory testimony to agency/regulatory entities and responds to agency/regulatory data requests
• Provides strategic input in the creation/revision of FERC tariffs and business practices. Works closely with the FERC attorneys on complex rule interpretations and critical interconnection decisions.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related and 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Excellent knowledge of fundamental issues and policies of WECC, Transmission, Electric Industry, OATT, FERC, and NERC. Strong written and oral communication skills, negotiation skills, and analytical skills.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required.
Background Testing
This position has been identified as having Substantial Authority, therefore, any internal employment offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. A new background check is required if the last check is greater than 18 months for internal candidates.

Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
