Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of experience in marketing, journalism, communications or public relations. Exceptional written communications skills and demonstrated ability to plan and produce compelling communications campaigns across multiple platforms including, print, online, e-news and social media. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff and the community. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with target audience and general public. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Acts as the primary liaison between the Mitchell College of Business (MCOB) and the central Office of Marketing and Communications.
Ensures that the marketing and communication needs of the college are met within the context of the overall University brand and marketing standards.
Plans effective use of central marketing resources in support of these efforts.
Partners with the dean, faculty and staff of the college to plan marketing strategies and campaigns for undergraduate and graduate recruitment that feature academic programs and highlight career opportunities and alumni outcomes associated with the colleges to prospective students in local, state and regional markets.
Works with the dean to review ongoing needs, project scope and cost estimates/projections.
Enhances the visibility of the college in the community through effective marketing and promotion of public and special events such as lectures, symposia, presentations and performances.
Manages the design, content creation, and publication of the Mitchell Report, Mitchell Magazine and other College newsletters and mailings.
Manages vendor relations, including coordination of photography.
Amplifies and positions alumni success/storytelling.
Works with alumni relations, identifies relevant marketing and public relation opportunities to enhance the College’s image among alumni.
Plans, writes, edits, produces and disseminates a variety of marketing communications materials, including news and features for print magazines, press releases, copy for websites and e-news, copy for PowerPoint presentation and copy for brochures and other marketing materials.
Designs and coordinates printing and distribution of College invitations and related communications.
Plans and executes effective advertising strategies that support the goals of the college, including development of advertising strategies and plans in accordance with established budgets.
Builds and enhances the MCOB websites in accordance with best practices and in alignment with the University’s strategic marketing goals by ensuring websites are current, accurate and relevant to target audiences.
Builds and enhances the MCOB social media presence including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram and X.
Plans, manages and coordinates social media activities including creating, scheduling and monitoring posts and updates, and engaging with and responding to social media audiences.
Assists with scripting and development of video content, including department or program-specific videos for web or social media.
Manages student workers/graduate assistants in the college and/or on the marketing team.
Consults with college departments and Centers to enhance marketing efforts and maintain the college’s brand standards.
Assists and coordinates MCOB event planning and marketing and ensures event documentation (photography, videography, etc.) for use in MCOB publications.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
Performs related duties as required.
