Position Summary The temporary Lobby Safety Officer will provide a combination of security, reception, guest and concierge service to Richard & Maurine Neuberger Center visitors by carrying out safety and security procedures. The temporary Lobby Safety Officer duties will include:

  • Being present at the Richard & Maurine Neuberger Center lobby front desk and watching all the activities that take place within the reception and lobby area. Noting the entry and exit of employees, visitors, and other individuals.

  • Preserving law and order, to protect persons and property. Guarding against unauthorized access or disorderly behavior.

  • Monitoring the video surveillance system and reviewing footage if necessary.

  • Responding to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner.

The temporary Lobby Safety Officer will often deal with all types of persons under stressful conditions. The officer will promote a positive image of the University as a whole, through an attitude of service orientation, and perform the assigned duties in a competent, professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification Minimum Qualifications are not established for this classification. The appointing authority is responsible for recruitment and selection. Refer to Personnel Rule 105-43-005.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • Customer service skills
  • Hospitality experience
  • Loss prevention experience
  • Front desk experience
  • Concierge/VIP experience
  • Basic computer skills for data entry
  • Ability to walk, take notes, and operate a computer
  • Basic knowledge of spoken and written English sufficient to understand laws, rules, policies, and procedures and explain them to others.
  • Skills in communicating orally with a wide variety of people, gathering, and exchanging information.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, which will includes fingerprint check through the Oregon State Police Bureau of Identification and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Possession of a First Aid Card and a CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of computers and two-way radios.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Security or Law Enforcement experience would be a plus.

Work Days/Hours Schedule is usually Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Officer may occasionally work a different shift. Officer may deal with hostile persons, sick or injured persons; may come in contact with hazardous conditions. Prolonged standing and/or walking may occur.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting salary rate for this position will be between $21.94 and $25.21 per hour. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.
