Job Summary:
This faculty position will have clinical and research responsibilities within the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This individual will serve as an attending physician in the Division of Hematology, with focus on the care and treatment of patients with classical hematology. This includes outpatient care, as well as inpatient attending responsibilities for the division (on inpatient units at Jackson Memorial Hospital).
This individual should be motivated to support the research mission of the Department and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to advance patient care for the patients of South Florida and beyond.
Duties and responsibilities (include but may not be limited to):
Responsible for holding clinic sections at Sylvester's main campus and for inpatient attending duties at Jackson Memorial Hospital
Conduct and develop clinical and translational trials related to the treatment of classical hematology. Will be expected to supervise and/or participate in ongoing clinical trials and assist in the expansion of clinical trials portfolio as an investigator and a principal investigator.
Publishes in refereed journals as principal investigator and/or in collaboration with other senior faculty, principal investigator (s) or program director (s).
Expected to generate sufficient funds to cover his/her professional income practice expenses and contribute to the Department of Medicine each fiscal year.
Participate in the Department of Medicine and the Division of Hematology meetings, Department of Medicine Grand Rounds and other academic activities.
Position Requirements:
Qualifications should include a demonstrated track record of excellence in patient care, peer-reviewed publications and the potential to serve as principal investigator of cutting-edge clinical trials for myeloma patients.
M.D., Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology is required. Active or eligibility to obtain a Florida Medical License.
Experience working with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams, in teaching, and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must be able to work efficiently and independently as part of a collaborative group.
