JOB DESCRIPTION
The Staff Attorney serves our team on a broad variety of legal, regulatory, legislative, and policy matters. Areas of responsibility include providing ongoing legal, regulatory, legislative, and policy analysis, research, drafting, and support; and collaborating with Legal, Government and Trial Court Liaison, and other staff. This position will also act as backup and support to the other attorneys in the Office of General Counsel. This position reports to the General Counsel. This is a hybrid position with the option to telework, per agency needs and policy.
Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:
• Research legal, regulatory, legislative, policy, and employment questions and provide policy support and training for staff and clients.
• Draft legal memos, legislation, rules, bylaws, policies and ethics and advisory opinions.
• Analyze statutes, case law, rules, regulations, policies, and legislation.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and monitor contracts, MOUs, and other legal documents.
• Serve as liaison between the Supreme Court and trial court councils regarding the drafting and submission of new and amended uniform court rules and forms; assist and advise trial court councils with editing and formatting of uniform court rules and forms to ensure compliance with Supreme Court requirements.
• Staff Judicial Council committees and other designated entities.
• Provide requested legal support to designated commissions, boards, committees, and councils.
• Respond to inquiries from the general public and government agencies, including Open Records Requests
• Monitor compliance of judicial commissions and boards with Supreme Court rules and State laws.
• Comply with other duties, as directed.
