Operations Manager - Engines Assembly




Location: Hattiesburg, MS (onsite)



Opportunity



In this role, you are responsible for leading the overall Production Operation (Assembly). You will manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the plant by establishing goals and objectives for the business and managing the assets assigned. (people and equipment). This position has responsibility for achieving or exceeding the expected performance levels in the areas of safety performance, employee engagement, quality performance, production output and financial performance. Other responsibilities include reducing operating cost and inventory through continuous improvement. Oversee day-to-day activities of Production Supervisors and Team Members to meet daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly expectations. This position will be part of the leadership team and will be required to work with other leaders to determine, implement and enforce plant policies.



Specific Responsibilities



  • Plan and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure materials, labor, and equipment are available to meet production schedules.

  • Meet with the Value Stream Team regularly, (Tier 1 - 4) reflecting on problems, solutions, and challenges identified in the Tier meetings, thereby creating a culture of continuous improvement and contributing towards becoming a learning organization.

  • Identify and coach process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and increase quality.

  • Analyze performance metrics (Scrap, Productivity, Production, Quality) to identify areas for improvement

  • Ensures and encourages a safe working environment by promoting safety and environmental compliance with all safety rules and procedures.

  • Development basic problem-solving skill to help solve Quality issues through First Pass Yield, daily reports, and scrap process. Minimize rework and/or scrap due to non-conformance through problem resolution.

  • Identify and eliminate waste across all processes to optimize production.

  • Supervise and set priorities for a staff of supervisors, Team leaders and Group Leaders establishing goals and objectives and determining actions that support the plant's overall objectives.

  • Drive and Coach all Lean activities within the Value Stream Teams including 5s, Standard Work and Visual Management events, SMED & VAVE events, process mapping and Tier Meetings.

  • Participates and practices Lean Manufacturing practices such as Kaizen & benchmarking events, 5 Why /A3 RCCM, 5s, FMEA, 8D Problem Analysis.

  • Develop team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.

  • Coordinate problem solving activities to include root cause analysis and corrective actions with Quality, Materials, Maintenance, Engineering departments as required.

  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Develops or revise standard operational and working procedures and observes employees to ensure compliance and standards.

  • Initiate action to prevent nonconformities and verify solutions for problems occurring during the production process.

  • Assist Plant Manager in developing budgets, updating forecast and managing P&L of their specific Value Stream. Keeps Plant Manager appraised of production problems, quality concerns, personnel related issues and other pertinent information as necessary.

  • Reports to the Plant Manager


Organization Relationships:



  • Frequent contact with (Mgr. - Engineering, Mgr. - Supply Chain, Mgr. - EH&S, Mgr. - Quality, Maintenance Mgr., CI Mgr. and HR - Manager) regarding customer service, schedule adherence, process, quality, maintenance and other support / performance related issues

  • Frequent contact with materials and supply chain to facilitate proactive responses and resolutions to schedule adherence and LOTIF issues

  • Occasional contact with Design Engineering regarding product requirements



Skills/Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations, Business, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or Associate's degree with a minimum of 10 years or experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 15 years of experience.

    • The experience required must be in a large, high complexity, high volume manufacturing environment managing people managers/supervisors (Production/MFG/Focus Factory Managers, Production Supervisors, and/or manufacturing Engineers) as direct reports.



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a people management position.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others and building partnerships.

  • Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvement.

  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.

The salary range for this position is $102500 - $130550. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
