Category Leader, Engines




Location: Kohler, WI (Hybrid)



Opportunity



Leads category sourcing activities by leveraging spend geography and industry knowledge, is responsible for establishing a purchasing strategy, negotiating materials, equipment, and/or services from suppliers. Prepares and evaluates supplier quotations and services to determine the most competitive solution based upon a total cost of ownership. Experienced in a variety of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Independently conducts complex sourcing projects. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage a continuous cost reduction program and form/maintain relationship with strategic vendors. Control total cost of ownership (TCO) leveraging rebates, direct negotiation and other techniques

  • Analyze industry indexes for commodities, trade reports, journals and periodicals regarding market trends and changes alerting appropriate personnel to potential or imminent problems/opportunities.

  • Take assignments for special purchases from concept to contract or recommend discontinuance based on sound analysis of fact. Assisting and/or leading in negotiations for product deemed necessary to support international development markets as required.

  • Research, develop, and expand the supply chain to include industry leader and upcoming technologies to ensure Rehlko has access to a modern and optimized supply base.

  • Determine, negotiate, and enforce purchase agreement contracts in alignment with the company's guidelines regarding spend under contract.

  • Collaborate with Purchasing management and staff across all procurement organizations to develop and implement commodity programs and related procurement strategies.

  • Drive continuous improvement in the quality of product contracts. Research current contracts and outside sources for "best practice" articles to be incorporated into current and/or future negotiated contracts.

  • Asist in the supply chain strategy to maintain Rehlko' s inventories at minimal required levels through active negotiation and supplier engagement supporting implementation of Kanban, JIT and VMI initiatives.

  • Develop risk mitigation strategies that insulate Rehlko from single sourced strategies, developing global supply chains and regional strategies that always consider supply security.

  • Participate and lead in cross functional team with a focus on Value Analysis/Value Engineering efforts, develop a strong relationship with engineering and supplier quality counterparts.

  • When necessary, travel to visit suppliers and general team meetings up to 3 times per quarter.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES



Business/Technology


  • Understanding of domestic and international Business Law with working knowledge of Intellectual Property. Internal customer focused. Ability to construct and manage complex, sophisticated arrangements, create unique T&Cs for legal review, and development pre-negotiation strategy. Capable of creating market/industry supply & demand models, building detailed supplier cost models, and calculate TCO including non-monetary values. Proficient in managing/leading multi-location/global projects, with experience in multi-region supply chain agreements and using freight forwarder/customs clearance service

  • Provides solution/alternatives and improvement ideas. Knowledgeable of leading-edge trends in market/industry and takes initiative to undertake improvement opportunities that are global in scope and complexity; Sets spend level strategies for business unit. Skilled in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities within the company and the supply base. General understanding of computer network technology & B2B applications. Demonstrate methods for streamlined supplier connectivity

Interpersonal


  • Demonstrated professionalism in communicating and maintaining critical documentation. Proactively identifies improvements and supports, qualifies, sells ideas to management.

  • Develop proficient market research. Development of cross functional relationships through active team roles and support, embracing diverse and global cultures.

  • A category leader collaborates with fellow category leaders globally to create best practices through positive engagement and idea sharing.



Managerial


  • Leads single location projects and actively participates and supports professional development for both associates and department as a whole. Develops strategic plans and goals while understanding industry direction and influences that force change. Shares the vision both internally and externally.



Skills/Requirements




Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, business, or technical education in fields like engineering, IT, metallurgy and electronics is preferred.


Experience: Minimum of seven years of professional experience, with at least four years in purchasing.


Technical Skills: Previous experience with SAP is desirable.

The salary range for this position is $98900 - $125600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
