JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Interprofessional Practice- Demonstrates consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.
Professional and Clinical Leadership- Demonstrates a commitment to the profession of nursing. Demonstrates accountability for continued self-growth and learning. Serves as a role model to peers and functions as a unit leader, and a hospital and community resource. Contributes to an environment that facilitates growth and development of colleagues. Demonstrates competency in the application to scientific inquiry to own nursing practice. Serves as a resource person for other staff members. Contributes to the delivery of quality patient care by working with other surgical team members during the preoperative and immediate postoperative phases.
Clinical Practice- Possess expert clinical knowledge and skills. Utilizes skills to deliver nursing care to the patient and family whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and rapidly changing. Hold high standards of practice for self. Ensures that care given to patients/families reflect internal commitment to these high standards. Maintains current knowledge of CCHMC policies, care standards, procedures and standards and assist in the development and implementation of future standards. Provide education to personnel, patients or family through structured and unstructured interactions. Formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify patients' assessments. Develops fiscal responsible and accountability with respect to patient charges and CCHMC charge capture. Collaborates with others to develop and achieve goals which will benefit patient care and professional practice.
Evidence Based Practice- Assess the patient preoperatively and develops a nursing care plan based on the assessment. Assist in the safe positioning, skin preparation, and draping of the patient. Provides hemostasis and wound exposure, handles tissue appropriately to reduce the potential for injury, sutures tissue, and applies dressing to the wound under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Uses surgical instruments skillfully and in way that is consistent with their design and purpose. Utilizes principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field. Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs. Assist in transporting the patient postoperatively. Communicates information to the post anesthesia care unit. Communicates information to the family as appropriate. Evaluate the patient postoperatively and participates in discharge planning. Demonstrates competency in providing patient/family education.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in related field. May require clinical license, certification or training
ACEN/CCNE accredited BSN OR MSN OR Associate/Diploma RN AND 2 years experience and BSN/MSN agreement May be required to obtain other state licensure.
2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
Active Ohio RN License
