As our Assistant Footwear Designer at Faryl Robin, you support the design and development of compelling footwear that helps our client retailer delight their consumers. This role requires someone with a passion for footwear, a keen eye for design details, and the ability to multi-task across a range of design and product information-related activities. You are eager to learn and work closely with senior designers, product developers, and account team members to help our client retailers differentiate their products from their competitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Spec Sheets: Support the preparation of technical spec sheets, including product specifications, material, and construction details. Ensure accuracy and completeness of design files.
PLM Information Entry and Maintenance. Work with Product Development to ensure that product/design-related information is entered into our retailers' Web-based portals. Ensure the design information is updated, as necessary.
Design Support: Assist senior designers in creating footwear designs. Prepare sketches, technical drawings, and digital designs based on retailer specifications.
Presentation Support: Assist in creating presentation materials for design reviews and client meetings. Contribute to the development of visual and verbal presentations.
Sample Management: Collaborate with Product Development to organize samples within our office, and to ship samples to our client retailers
Trend Analysis: Conduct research on current fashion trends, colors, and materials. Provide insights and recommendations that can be incorporated into current design projects.
Prototype Assistance: Work with Product Development to review prototypes and samples. Assist in evaluating fit, comfort, and performance, and provide feedback for design improvements.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional account teams, to ensure designs are practical and aligned with product development and production capabilities.
Qualifications:
Experience: 0-2 years of experience in footwear design or a related field, including internships. A strong portfolio demonstrating relevant design work is preferred.
Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality and accurate design work. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SketchUp). Basic knowledge of 3D modeling and prototyping techniques is desirable.
Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and present ideas clearly.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new design techniques and feedback. Ability to handle changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Creativity: Strong creative abilities with a passion for footwear design. Ability to assist in generating innovative design concepts and solutions.
