The Stamford JCC Performing Arts Department is seeking a passionate and talented individual to join our theater faculty as Lead Theater Instructor. The Lead Theater Instructor will teach a myriad of theatrical disciplines, including but not limited to: Acting, Improvisation, Musical Theater Dance, and Voice. Other skill sets encouraged but not required: set design, stage management, stage tech, dance experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Responsibilities:
Head teach Theater and Voice classes and camps
Collaborate on all JCC musical and theatrical performances with dance and theater staff
Act as Musical Director when needed
Teach voice lessons and coach group musical numbers
Teach acting and improvisation to a range of school-aged groups (preschool through middle school)
Choreograph basic musical dance movement and blocking
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 2-3 years prior experience teaching (experience with school-aged students preferred)
A bachelors or masters degree in theater or music, or at least 3 years of professional experience.
Available to teach weekday afternoons and weekends
Available for rehearsals and performances during nights & weekends, as performances and special events require
Must have experience with Musical Theater
Must be a team player: someone who communicates openly and can collaborate well
Ability to liaise in a professional manner with parents and students
Available to start on or about December 16, 2024

Set design
Lighting and/or Sound design
Stage management experience
Proficient pianist (or another musical instrument)
Dance and/or choreography experience
Salary:
$55/hr for lead instruction
$20/hr for any required work outside of the classroom such as staff meetings and dress rehearsals
