The Medical Professional Liability Underwriter will be primarily responsible for the evaluation and assessment of medical professional liability risks arising from physician and ancillary staff activities. Qualified candidate will promote teamwork through leadership and motivation and deliver high quality customer service to internal and external clients.
Responsibilities • Evaluates and determines acceptability of new applicants and renewal policies as well as other transactions relating to coverage within defined territory, following established guidelines. • Monitors team handling of all work tasks new business applications from initial receipt of application to issuance of policy, to ensure timely completion of work. • Communicates daily with internal and external clients, including policyholders and agents. • Responds to coverage questions from prospective applicants, policyholders, group administrators and agents and evaluates requests for changes in coverage. • Provides proposal pricing and renewal presentations on group accounts. • Cultivates and maintains relationships with agents, prospective and current clients to build a strong book of business. • Strategizes with agents to identify new business opportunities throughout the year. • Supervises, evaluates, and completes reviews on assigned team regularly. • Develops and attains continuing professional self-development path.
Some travel required, including overnight stays.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred. Certification in professional insurance programs such as RPLU or CPCU preferred, but not required.
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional liability underwriting experience required. Medical professional liability experience strongly preferred. At least one year direct supervisory experience.
Must obtain Texas Department of Insurance General Lines Agent License within six months of employment and is responsible for maintaining license requirements.
