The Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) business is a global operating unit that supports HeartWare™ Ventricular Assist Device (HVAD) patients with advanced heart failure around the world.

In this exciting position, you will be responsible for the leadership of the Quality function in the MCS business, working closely with cross functional leaders to drive the business priorities, objectives, and outcomes for our patients. This role serves as a key leader on the MCS leadership team as well as represents the MCS business on the global Quality Leadership Team comprised of Quality leaders from across the enterprise. The team consists of 75+ employees, including people and project leaders.

This position is in Mounds View, MN or Miami Lakes, FL. At MCS, we require on-site presence at least three days a week.

  • Developing and implementing quality strategy that drives improvements and outcomes

  • Lead and inspire the quality team throughout the total product lifecycle

  • Drive a Put Patients First culture

  • Foster a culture of diversity which enables the attraction, retention, and development of the Quality team

  • Responsible for regulatory compliance collaborating with cross functional and shared services teams

  • Delivering on MCS and Global Quality priorities ensuring financial goals are attained

  • Ensure product remediation deliverables are completed on schedule with the highest quality

  • Lead strategy and preparedness for audit activities

  • Support issues from the manufacturing facilities/suppliers working closely with Operation partners

  • Coaches team members through technical, logistical, and problem solving and resolution including technical CAPA investigation and action phases.

  • Represent Quality on MCS Leadership Team

  • Represent MCS on Global Quality Leadership Team

QUALIFICATIONS SECTION

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline.

  • Minimum of 15 years of combined experience in quality, engineering or a related function with 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of combined experience in quality, engineering or a related function with 10+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have


  • Demonstrated experience and competence influencing and managing cross-functionally and across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Mastery of managing complex issues

  • Experience in interacting with customers

  • Experience with the CAPA process

  • Experience with product remediation

  • Experience in interacting with manufacturing sites

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$212,800.00 - $319,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
