WCS is a US non-profit, tax-exempt, private organization established in 1895 that saves wildlife and wild places by understanding critical issues, crafting science-based solutions, and taking conservation actions that benefit nature and humanity. With a presence in more than 60 nations, WCS has amassed the biological knowledge, cultural understanding and partnerships to ensure that vibrant, wild places and wildlife thrive alongside local communities.
The WCS Arctic Beringia program operates to protect the health and vitality of Arctic wildlife such as polar bear, wolverine, walrus, Arctic fox, muskoxen, seals, and shorebirds from pressures related to a rapidly changing climate and the onset of new industrial development. Our work is closely aligned with Indigenous People's efforts related to food security and sovereignty.
