Position Title: Performance/Strength and Conditioning Coach Reports To: Performance Coordinator Location: RPS Academy, Port St. Lucie, FL
Position Summary:
RPS Academy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Performance/Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Performance Coordinator to design, implement, and monitor training programs aimed at optimizing the physical development and athletic performance of tennis players aged 7-18. Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation: Assist in designing and implementing sport-specific strength, conditioning, and movement programs tailored to tennis athletes of varying ages and skill levels. Lead daily training sessions, including warm-ups, strength and power training, conditioning, recovery, and mobility exercises. Adapt programs as necessary to meet the individual needs and goals of each athlete. Performance Monitoring: Assist in conducting performance testing (e.g., CMJ, sprint testing, and agility assessments). Monitor athletes' progress using data from performance tests and provide feedback to athletes, coaches, and the Performance Coordinator. Track and record attendance, performance metrics, and training outcomes. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Performance Coordinator, tennis coaches, and medical staff to ensure training aligns with tennis-specific needs and injury prevention strategies. Injury Prevention and Recovery: Design and lead injury prevention programs to reduce the risk of sports-related injuries. Assist with recovery sessions, including stretching, mobility, and ice bath routines. Education and Mentorship: Educate athletes on proper technique, nutrition, hydration, and recovery strategies. Provide mentorship to athletes to promote a positive, disciplined, and high-performance culture.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification (e.g., NASM-PES, USAW). At least 1 year of experience in strength and conditioning, preferably in tennis or youth sports. Knowledge of sports science testing and data analysis. CPR and First Aid certification. Preferred:
Experience working in tennis or with rotational athletes. Background in coaching movement on clay courts. Bilingual (English-spanish)
Key Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, parents, and staff. Ability to adapt programs to suit diverse age groups and skill levels. High level of organization and attention to detail. Enthusiasm for mentoring young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence.
Working Conditions:
Position requires availability for flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. Physical demands include demonstrating exercises, lifting equipment, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
