Position: Interim CFO - nonprofit, part-time (24 hours/week)

Organization: ~$30M nonprofit

Location: Arlington, VA (hybrid), candidate must be local

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: International nonprofit organization seeks an Interim CFO to provide gap coverage for two to three months, with potential to extend. High-level responsibilities include:
  • Advise the CEO and other key members of leadership team on budgeting, financial planning, cash flow, management priorities, and policy matters.
  • Help lead growth strategy while ensuring strong financial controls and transparency.
  • Ensure organization-wide compliance with financial regulations and standards, e.g., timely statutory audits, tax filings, state filings and other compliance requirements in subsidiaries and Global office.
  • Provide oversight of financial performance and work with the leadership team to make management decisions to ensure sound financial integrity within the organization's programs and subsidiaries.
  • Maintain banking, lending, investment and insurance relationships for the organization in the Global office and ensure relationships are properly managed in subsidiaries by the country directors/local finance team.
  • Leverage strengths of the current finance team staff, consistently clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in international organization nonprofit accounting and international field locations is a must-have
  • Experience with complex system implementation is a must-have
  • 7+ years of experience in nonprofit CFO position
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable
  • Experience managing and directing teams of accounting and finance staff across different geographies and time zones
  • Problem-solving skills. Willing to face unique challenges
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, especially the ability to articulate complex financial/accounting concepts various business unit leaders
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with smart, caring professionals who want to make a positive impact in the world
