We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction to lead and grow our fast-paced construction department and ensure successful project delivery. This role involves overseeing Project Managers, developing efficient processes and procedures, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a General Contractor (GC) license, and a solid understanding of project estimating. This position is in Marietta, Georgia.
Responsibilities:
1. Operational Oversight:
- Lead and manage all construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor project progress and performance, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Travel to job sites as required to oversee operations and ensure compliance with company standards.
2. Project Management Leadership:
- Supervise and support Project Managers in the execution of multiple projects, providing guidance and resolving issues that may arise.
- Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers to review project status, address challenges, and share best practices.
3. Process and Procedure Development:
- Develop, implement, and refine processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Establish standard operating procedures for project management and construction processes.
4. Estimating and Budget Management:
- Collaborate with Project Managers and estimating teams to create accurate project estimates and budgets.
- Review and approve project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability among all team members and subcontractors.
6. Software Proficiency:
- Utilize construction management software, including Pantera, Microsoft Project, and Procore, to streamline project tracking, reporting, and documentation.
- Train team members on the effective use of these tools to enhance project communication and management.
7. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the primary point of contact for any escalated project issues.
8. Team Development:
- Mentor and develop project management staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Identify training needs and provide opportunities for professional growth within the team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of AIA Documentation and familiarity with contract language in order to review contract terms and conditions to assist in contract negotiations.
- Valid General Contractor (GC) license preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in Pantera, Procore, and other construction management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
