Industry: Manufacturing - Electrical Power Distribution (Switchgear & Control Panels)
Position Summary:
Tier Power Systems (TPS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to manage and oversee the procurement process for our manufacturing operations, specifically in the production of UL891 switchboards, control panels, and other electrical power distribution equipment. This position requires a detail-oriented, results-driven professional with a strong background in procurement within the manufacturing industry, including expertise in switchgear components and materials. The Procurement Manager will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of materials necessary to meet production deadlines and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Management & Lead Time Oversight:
Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Vendor Follow-Up: Proactively manage purchase orders and track material shipments, ensuring that all materials arrive on time to support project timelines. Communicate regularly with vendors to track order statuses and address any potential delays promptly.
Lead Time Management: Monitor and adjust procurement schedules to ensure that all required materials are available at least 30 days before the production start date. Forecast and manage lead times based on project timelines and material requirements.
Purchasing and Inventory Control:
Purchase Orders: Generate, process, and maintain accurate purchase orders within the ERP system, ensuring that quantities, pricing, and delivery dates are aligned with project needs.
Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with inventory and production teams to manage stock levels, reduce shortages, and prevent excess inventory.
Returns and Credits: Efficiently manage returns, exchanges, and supplier credits, ensuring that issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
ERP System Management & Reporting:
ERP Data Management: Ensure accurate entry of procurement data into the ERP system, and perform regular updates and audits of purchase orders, inventory, and vendor information.
Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed procurement reports for senior management, including analysis of purchase trends, vendor performance, and cost optimization opportunities.
Cost Control & Negotiation:
Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations, competitive bidding processes, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Negotiations: Conduct pricing negotiations with suppliers to achieve the best value for TPS while maintaining high-quality standards.
Budget Adherence: Monitor and control procurement costs to ensure that purchasing activities remain within budget constraints.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and environmental guidelines.
Quality Assurance: Work with the quality assurance team to ensure that all procured materials meet TPS's product standards and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or management-level procurement role. Experience with UL891 switchboards and electrical power distribution equipment is preferred.
ERP Systems: Strong proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar) to manage purchase orders, inventory, and supplier data.
Vendor Management: Proven experience in negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and optimizing procurement processes.
Project Management: Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the procurement of materials and components used in electrical power distribution systems, including switchgear and control panels.
Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications: APICS (CPIM), ISM (CPSM), or similar certifications in procurement or supply chain management is a plus.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, effectively managing personnel and contributing to departmental goals.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with occasional visits to the production floor.
Must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer, phone, and other office equipment.
