Job Description:

Bionet Sonar is looking for an Engineering Technician for our Burlington, MA, office. The candidate will help develop state-of-the-art wireless underwater communication systems to support the launch of a new generation of Underwater IoT devices.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the inventory of components, tools, and materials.
  • Support the engineering team in prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Support the engineering team in field testing the prototypes and maintaining and upgrading the deployed testbeds.
  • As an engineering technician, you will work across all our engineering functions and get your hands on projects from early concepts to prototypes.
  • Elevate issues and help solve problems.

Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing or prototyping equipment such as: 3D printing, laser-cutting, CNC machining, assembly, drill press, band saw, hand tools...
  • Experience in assembling/reworking PCB's, soldering small gauge wire, & electronic components
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuit theory - resistors, capacitors, inductors
  • Ability to read and understand cable drawings, panel wiring drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrated experience with integration and debugging electronic PCBs, electrical systems, and concept products
  • Use of measuring equipment, including Digital multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and general electronic bench-top test devices
  • Continuous learner with an attention to detail and safety
  • Able to solve problems with critical thinking
  • Work well within a team with a highly collaborative engineering environment.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills
  • (Optional) CAD design experience (such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, or OnShape)
  • (Optional) Electrical breadboarding experience, building/wiring prototypes including mixed-signal ICs, high-speed digital signals, serial interfaces
