Role Description
We are seeking a Financial and Operations Analyst who is detail-oriented, creative, and a self-starter to join our team. As a startup our current staffing is limited, and we have a culture where everyone steps up as needed. Roles can be fluid with the primary responsibility will be supporting payroll, grant reporting and billing, financial planning and forecasting. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with experience in or familiarity with grant reporting, particularly for government grants. In addition to financial responsibilities, this role will also include managing content on social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses, including budgeting, cash flow, forecasting, and variance analysis. • Accounting: Assisting in maintaining the company QuickBooks file • Grant Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and financial summaries for government and private grants, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines. • Financial Reporting: Assist in developing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial data in relevant software systems and ensure compliance with financial policies. • Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative solutions to financial challenges as they arise, particularly those unique to a fast-growing startup. • Social Media & Website Content: Collaborate to create and share financial insights, updates, and achievements on social media platforms. Help develop engaging, easy-to-understand financial content for external audiences. • Ad Hoc Projects: Lead or assist in special financial projects, including market analysis, fundraising preparation and social media content creation.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within a startup or fast-paced environment. • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a high level of attention to detail. • Familiarity with grant reporting, particularly government grants (experience in the clean energy sector is a plus). • High proficiency in financial modeling and use of financial software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and QuickBooks). • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic understanding of creating related content. • A self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to new challenges quickly.
