We are looking for a seasoned Railroad Track Inspector with a deep understanding of rail infrastructure, safety standards, and compliance. This position is crucial for ensuring that our tracks meet all regulatory requirements and are safe for operation.
Job Summary: The Railroad Track Inspector is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections, audits, and safety assessments of our railroad tracks, switches, and crossings. This role includes significant travel throughout the designated region, with a high degree of independence. In addition to inspections, the Track Inspector will prepare detailed reports, conduct audits, and lead training sessions to reinforce best practices in track safety and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular and ad-hoc inspections of railroad tracks, switches, and crossings to identify wear, defects, and other safety hazards.
Complete and submit detailed reports on inspection findings, including recommendations for repair or maintenance.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to prioritize necessary repairs and schedule preventive maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with federal and state rail safety regulations, specifically FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) standards.
Conduct regular safety audits to evaluate compliance and assess the quality of repairs.
Develop and deliver training sessions on inspection protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to team members and contractors.
Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment for accuracy and reliability.
Stay updated on new industry regulations and implement best practices accordingly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training in railroad engineering or a related field is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in railroad track inspection, maintenance, or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of FRA regulations and industry safety standards.
Proven experience in report writing, safety audits, and delivering training programs.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively within assigned regions.
Physical ability to walk long distances, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions: This role requires extensive travel and the ability to work flexible hours. No work on weekend and work on holidays! The position involves regular outdoor work in various weather conditions.
