Job Description:

The Science Mill seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Strategic Projects Specialist to lead a longitudinal program focused on student outcomes and student retention for our flagship SCI (STEM Career Immersion) Camp program in strategic rural locations across Texas. In addition to managing this program, the Strategic Projects Specialist will assist with other strategic initiatives, including program growth with international partners. This role is critical to supporting the Science Mill's off-site program growth through data analysis, assessment, partnership development, and community stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in STEM education, experience in program recruitment, and exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Longitudinal Study Implementation: Implementation and ongoing management of a comprehensive longitudinal study focused on evaluating the outcomes of the SCI Camp program. Develop and maintain data collection methods and timelines to track program impact over time.
  • School and Community Engagement: Establish and foster strong partnerships with selected schools across Texas to support the program's goals. Serve as the primary point of contact for partner schools, facilitating their involvement and ensuring the successful enrollment of students in the study. Engage with multiple levels of school and district staff as well as students, parents, and caregivers in target communities to support program outcomes.
  • Student Recruitment and Engagement: Collaborate with schools to engage students in strategic programs, offering support and STEM-related activities to boost recruitment. Provide partners with resources, guidance, and strategies for encouraging student enrollment and participation.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Participate in data collection activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality. Conduct data analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement, providing Science Mill leadership with actionable recommendations.
  • Communication and Reporting: Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting study progress, findings, and impact. Regularly communicate with school partners and study participant parents to provide updates and address any questions or concerns.
  • Support Strategic Initiatives: Provide support on other strategic projects as needed, including expanding to international partners and developing training and program enhancements to support international program offerings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM, Social Sciences, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in STEM education, student recruitment, and/or partnership management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and experience with relevant software/tools for tracking and reporting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Texas to build and maintain rural school partnerships as required.
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for advancing STEM education and accessibility.

This is a part-time position that, depending on the candidate's skills and expertise, can be performed remotely or on-site at the Science Mill in Johnson City Monday-Saturday.
