We are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator! Come join an employee-owned company here in the Central Valley!
The Commercial HVAC Estimator will join our commercial construction team. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidates must be highly organized, with the ability to prioritize workflow, bid scheduling, and deadlines. Our Estimators spend time in the office and on the job site, regularly, maintaining excellent working relationships with the superintendent, field crews, subcontractors, and other trades.
Below is a brief description of what we're looking for in our ideal candidate:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Estimator will analyze the scope of each project before it is proposed. The Assistant Estimator will research the intent of the scope and develop reports on materials and labor requirements. They should accurately estimate costs related to labor, materials, equipment, and other relevant areas. The Assistant Estimator is responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with customers, subcontractors, and partners. Additional necessary skills include budgeting, analytical thinking, negotiating, and time management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively perform each essential duty. Other duties may be assigned as required:
Prepares jobs and project plans to be estimated. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying RFP's, bid invites, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Review plans and specifications to assist in determining the scope of work.
Performs job site analysis for the development of estimates on existing buildings
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Schedule estimates in a timely manner.
Assists with locating competitive pricing for required equipment and materials.
Collects product documentation to submit with proposal; including material submittals if needed
Saves appropriate equipment/material information (submittals, quotes, drawings, etc) to the correct job files for future use and reference
Works with Project Coordinators to transfer all relevant information at Project turnover.
Maintain a contact list of all vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
Review estimates with Estimator and Project Manager to ensure timely turnaround on scope, estimate, and approvals
Acts as a resource to the estimating team to assist with accelerating the teams' backlog.
Communicates professionally with internal and external customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Build and maintain strong business relationships with subcontractors, select engineers, vendors, and equipment/material providers.
Participate in the required project turnover meetings.
Presents prepared estimates to the Project Managers by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
Work with internal teams to create estimates, scope changes or modifications to estimates.
Required Characteristics
Must have a strong work ethic and a "can-do" problem-solving attitude.
Must be an excellent listener and communicator.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Bachelor degree in a Construction related profession or similar is preferred but not required.
