Our business also includes reports, webcasts, conferences, and consulting services covering crude oil, natural gas, NGL, refined products, and renewable energy markets. Purpose
RBN Energy is seeking an NGLs Market Analyst to join our Houston team. The position will involve analyzing energy market data, staying abreast of important market changes, and writing commentary (blogs and reports). The analysis will primarily focus on domestic NGL markets, but may also be involved in other energy commodities, including refined products, NGL natural gas, and renewables. In addition to analysis, the individual must be able to develop and maintain rapport with key contacts (producers, end-users, midstream companies, traders, and other participants) to understand important market developments.
The ideal candidate is personable and a team player, innately curious, with the ability to discern what's really going on in markets, and able to become a subject matter expert. We are looking for someone with experience in data and market analysis including but not limited to NGLs. The NGL Market Analyst will apply and develop skills in data analysis and presentation, market commentary, and editorials - all in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Working with the RBN consulting and analytics teams to understand and forecast market trends
Building and maintaining NGL analytics to support oil-focused reporting
Running and maintaining the domestic NGL models including upstream production and downstream demand
Communicating findings and analysis both internally and externally, including conferences and consulting presentations
Writing market commentary and blogs adhering to strict deadlines
Developing rapport with key contacts and liaising with industry stakeholders (traders, brokers, and other participants) to understand market trends
Optimizing and streamlining data analysis and processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with crude oil markets a plus
Willingness to learn new markets and modeling systems
Self-motivated, able to use initiative, and equipped with an inquisitive nature
Ability to think analytically and solve problems independently
Skill with Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in an analytical or research role
Ability to handle multiple tasks on a tight deadline
Commitment to the highest level of accuracy and clarity
Willingness to team up with others, using strong collaborative and problem-solving abilities
Articulate reporting and writing skills
A minimum of a bachelor's degree, a plus if in business, finance, economics, engineering or related field
Aptitude for BI analysis software (Power BI, Tableau, ClicData, etc...) a plus
Experience with Python, R, or SQL a plus
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. for any U.S. employer
