LEED Construction Administrator - Design-Build Program for NYC Borough-Based Jail System (Brooklyn Facility)

The Velez Organization, a leading Minority and Woman-Owned construction management firm, is seeking an experienced LEED Construction Administrator to support our work as a subconsultant to HOK on the NYC Borough-Based Jail System's Brooklyn facility. We are committed to achieving the highest sustainability standards, and this role is essential in helping us and our partners reach LEED Gold certification.
Position Overview:
As a LEED Construction Administrator, you will oversee and support LEED certification processes throughout the construction phase. In collaboration with the sustainability leads from both HOK and Velez, you'll ensure that all LEED requirements are effectively met, coordinating with the General Contractor, Subcontractors, Commissioning Agents, and the Owner to promote sustainable construction practices and manage documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination: Participate in project kick-off workshops to review LEED scorecard strategies and define construction phase responsibilities with HOK and Velez sustainability leads, as well as other project stakeholders.
Plan Development: Assist in developing Construction Waste Management and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Management Plans to meet LEED standards.
Innovation Tracking: Track identified Innovation and Design Credits and research additional opportunities for LEED points.
Monthly Meetings & Reporting: Attend monthly LEED Construction Coordination meetings and provide detailed reports on progress and compliance.
LEED Compliance Review: Review product submittals, data, and cutsheets for LEED compliance and assist with Requests for Information (RFIs) related to LEED requirements.
Site Visits: Conduct site walk-throughs to verify implementation of LEED-related activities in coordination with the Design-Build team.
Documentation Management: Compile and manage all construction phase documentation, ensuring accurate and timely uploads to LEED Online for prerequisite and credit attainment.
Final Submissions: Coordinate and submit all documentation required for GBCI Preliminary and Final LEED Submittals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
LEED Accreditation (LEED AP or LEED Green Associate).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction Administration or a related role, preferably on large-scale public projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of LEED certification processes, especially in Construction Administration.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for effective documentation and reporting.
Excellent communication skills to engage with HOK and Velez teams as well as other stakeholders.
Proficiency with LEED Online and relevant project management tools (i.e. Green Badger).
