Infection control: 1 year (Preferred)

IV Certification (Preferred)
Purpose: To partner with facility experts in the development and execution of a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Partners with the Medical Director develop, implement, and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plan
Oversees the operations of the infection prevention, epidemiology and relevant safety programs
Accountable for surveillance of healthcare acquired and community acquired infections
Leads facility hygiene program to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, mitigate and control workplace conditions related to infection control and prevention
Participates in the national collaboratives and external reporting to CDC NHSN system, and other post-acute care specific quality organizations
Authority and responsibility for ensuring appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff, volunteers and medical staff when healthcare infection trends, outbreaks or non-compliance to infection control/OSHA are identified
Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and ensures that the facility leaders are informed of appropriate issues. Understands and complies with infection control, safety and OSHA procedures and
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must hold a current RN or LPN license.
Must hold an IV Certification.
Must have proof of specialized training in infection prevention and control.
A minimum of 2 years nursing experience
Minimum or 1 year of previous experience in infection prevention and control.
Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Possible bending, squatting, twisting and reaching
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset, and/or memory impaired
Must be able to manage resident behavior that includes verbal outbursts, combative behavior, striking out, and memory impairment
Ability to speak Spanish or another foreign language is helpful but not required
Environmental Conditions:
Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and minimal potential exposure to blood-born pathogens.
