The Gilboa-Conesville Central School District is accepting applications for the following position: School Bus Mechanic Full-time, 12-month position starting at $48,000 (negotiable based on experience). Must meet civil service requirements. The successful candidate will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on school buses and related vehicles. Key responsibilities include inspecting engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, and other components to identify issues, performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The mechanic will maintain accurate service records, manage inventory of parts and supplies, and collaborate with transportation staff to schedule repairs efficiently. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred. Experience with heavy vehicles or bus maintenance. Knowledge of safety and compliance standards.
