Job Summary
This position supports Dental Faculty Practice.
General Responsibilities
Take impressions and bite registrations
Take, develop and mount x-rays. Instruct students on taking x-rays
Fit preliminary crowns for adjustments, create custom temporary restorations and place temporary restorative material in teeth
Make and fabricate temporary crown and adjust and cement
Place and remove matrix retainers for alloy and composite restorations
Place resin and amalgam restorations. Finish and polish restorations and adjust patient bite
Perform expanded dental assistant functions and demonstrate correct procedures to students
Sit chair side to pass instruments and support direct patient care as indicated by procedure
Confirm that instruments are sterilized and working properly and organize them for procedures and/or surgery
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program AND 1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialty; OR
2 years of dental assisting experience AND Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program AND 1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialty
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
Indiana X-Ray License upon date of hire
Expanded Functions Dental Assisting License if working in an expanded dental assisting capacity upon date of hire
Dental Assistant Certification if working in a dental assisting specialty capacity upon date of hire
DAANCE if working in an anesthetic capacity upon date of hire

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
